FAST performed well in the
June Age Group Invite at La Mirada Armada last weekend, with 18
swimmers turning in lifetime bests in all of their swims.
Congratulations to Kayleen Bretz, Kyle Cabotaje, Ryan Cavanagh,
Jeremy Cho, Katie Cho, Sierra Cox, Makena Ditsworth, Garrett
Dowell, Andres Frausto, Madeline Garcia, Daniel Gribble, David
Karaguiozian, Derek Lindenberger, Ava Mattis, Lilly Mazzi,
Christopher Micu, Nicole Salladin, Suhail Samidon, and Joseph
Weissig!
Makena Ditsworth and Simon Lamer
each won two individual events. Makena took first pace in the 5-10
Girls 50 Butterfly and 5-10 Girls 100 Butterfly. Both swims were
lifetime best times. Simon won the 11-12 Boys 100 Freestyle and
11-12 Boys 400 Freestyle, tying his time in the 400 Freestyle and
taking off about half a second in the 100 Freestyle. The Girls 10 & Under 200 Freestyle Relay
team of Makena Ditsworth, Evelyn McIlveen, Madeline Harkey, and
Lily Olson took second place. All four girls teamed up again for
the Girls 10 & Under 200 Medley Relay which also earned the
second place spot at the meet.
Several swimmers had trememdous
drops in the distance events. Matthew Efseaff led the way with a 31
second drop in the 800 Freestyle! Kayleen Bretz dropped 21 seconds,
Madeline Garcia knocked off 14 seconds, and Sean Lundin dropped 11
seconds. Kayleen also dropped 19 seconds in the 1500 Freestyle
and teammate Allie Miller took off 22 seconds.
Other great drops were
turned by Sierra Cox (9 seconds in the 100 Butterfly), Sergio
Dorrego (9 seconds in the 400 IM), Roseryn Empremsilapa (14 seconds
in the 400 Freestyle), Andres Frausto (10 seconds in the 400 IM),
Nicole Salladin (9 seconds in the 200 Freestyle), and Kevin
Smithmatungol (8 seconds in the 100 Backstroke).
