April 14th &
15th - STOP Red/White Meet (SCY)
FAST had many outstanding
swims for all groups that attended STOP's Red/White meet on April
14th and 15th. Overall, our team had 70% best times! Six swimmers achieved new Blue times
in at least one event. Congratulations to Leanne Babigan, Jeremy
Cho, Katie Cho, Jaden Nasu, Chloe Reed, and Cathryn Salladin. An
incredible 18 swimmers posted best times in all of their swims.

April 19th-22nd
- Mission Viejo Swim Meet of
Champions (LCM)
FAST was well-represented
at the Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions in Mission
Viejo. Elite Team member Tyler Clary came home with the Men's High
Point Award racking up a total of 72 individual points throughout
the three days that he competed. Tyler won the 200 Butterfly
(1:58.13) and 200 Backstroke (1:57.63), took second in the 200
Freestyle (1:48.96), and 4th in the 100 Backstroke (56.01). The 200
Freestyle was a great event for all of the FAST Elites. Matt McLean
finished just three one-hundredths of a second behind Tyler with a
time of 1:48.99 for third place and Michael Klueh took fourth with
a time of 1:49.67. Mike Smit finished second in the Consolation
Final for 10th overall with a time of 1:53.43. McLean, Klueh, and
Smit all raced the 400 Freestyle as well claiming the 1st, 2nd, and
19th positions, respectively. Smit was the only Elite to race the
100 Freestyle and represented well, placing 12th overall and
improving on his position from the Preliminaries. Klueh took 2nd
place in the 800 Freestyle with an impressive 8:02.56 which
currently places him 24th in the world this year.
On the women's side, the
1500 Freestyle was a great event for FAST with Lauren Morford
taking 4th place and Daniela Rueda claiming 7th. Morford and Rueda
finished 12th and 19th, respectively, in the 800 Freestyle on the
first day of the meet. Gian Berino swam a best time in the Men's
1500 Freestyle which was contested on the first day. His time of
16:49.05 was a best by over 15 seconds. Morford earned a second
swim in the 400 Freestyle racing to 3rd place in the evening's
Bonus Final. Amanda Lundstedt dropped over three seconds in the 200
Butterfly for a lifetime best 2:34.92. She was right on her best
100 Butterfly time, turning in a strong 1:07.78. Isabella Kearns
dropped five seconds in the 400 IM for a lifetime best time of
5:20.10. She also posted a lifetime best in the 200 Freestyle
(2:15.87).

April 21st &
22nd - FAST Tri-Meet with Arizona Sun Devil and Trident Swim Club
(LCM)
The 12 & Under swimmers
did an awesome job at the Tri-Meet with Arizona's Sun Devil
Aquatics and the Trident Swim Club. Many swimmers were racing in
their first-ever Long Course events. Overall, the team posted 75%
best times out of more than 300 races. Forty-one of our swimmers
turned in lifetime bests in all of their events over the course of
the two days. Congratulations to Zara Anderson, Alexia Bauer, Peter
Bauer, Catherine Campbell, Katie Cho, Ryan Chung, Rafa DeLeon,
Deborah Dervartanian, Carson Dike, Angela Gaitatjis, Sophia
Hodgden, Trevor Holtgrew, Doug Johnson, David Karaguiozian, Ethan
Keung, Meggie Keung, Nichole Kuntz, Danielle Lee, Maya Lee, Derek
Lindenberger, Jade Lingasin, Johanna Lingasin, Meg Lowrey, Naina
Makkad, Natalyah Moala, Jaden Nasu, Ethan Newberry, John Park,
Ethan Paguyo, Katelyn Priest, Kyle Priest, Brianna Schuster,
Cecilia Smith, Jared Spuur, Carissa Stewart, Connell Tannehill,
Padraig Tannehill, Anna Tifrea, Joseph Weissig, Kendall Wilson, and
Kaitlyn Yee.
A great way to begin
the Long Course season!
April 27th-29th
- MVN Blue Meet (LCM)
FAST's Blue swimmers did a
great job at the Mission Viejo meet held April 27th through 29th.
Many swimmers had tremendous time drops in the 800 Freestyle, led
by Mariah Ames who knocked 42 seconds off of her previous best
time. Isabella Kearns dropped over 34 seconds in her 800 while
teammates Evan Munaretto and Mandy Schatz dropped 39 and 31,
respectively. Evan also had a great drop in his 400 Freestyle the
next day, taking off over 26 seconds from his entry time. Other
great drops in the 400 Freestyle were turned in by Allie Miller (30
seconds), Diana Monobe (over 17 seconds), Matthew Efseaff (13
seconds), and Ethan Dickinson (over 11 seconds). Kayleen Bretz and
Kelsey Hall showed tremendous improvement in the 400 IM, dropping
over 12 and 13 seconds, respectively. Alex Dowell dropped over 17
seconds in the shorter 200 IM and Andres Frausto dropped 11 seconds
in the 200 Freestyle.
Several 12 & Unders
continued their great month of racing with huge improvement in some
of the shorter distances. Ryan Cavanagh led the way dropping over
16 seconds in the 50 Back and 10 seconds in the 50 Butterfly.
Annika Johnson chopped over 10 seconds off of her 50 Butterfly time
and Terence Ma dropped nearly 12 seconds in his 100 Freestyle.
Teammate Lily Olson dropped over 18 seconds in the 100 Backstroke
and Garret Dowell improved by over 12 seconds in the same event.
Ethan Dickinson, Ethan Keung, Harrison Lee, Rhyann Lowrey, Evelyn
McIlveen, Chloe Reed, and Cathryn Salladin posted best times in all
of their races of the weekend. Tyryn Empremsilapa won both of her
races in the 5-8 Girls division, the 100 Free and 50 Back, posting
a best time in the former by just under a second. Evelyn McIlveen
won the 5-10 Girls 50 Back with a best time by almost a full
second. Simon Lamar won the 200 Free, 100 Fly, and 100 Free in the
11-12 Boys division.
